We deliver a world map using the AuthaGraph projection method in a handy poster format. It can be pasted directly on the wall or framed, but framing makes it look more luxurious.


The AuthaGraph World Map Poster (a world map in one)

The AuthaGraph World Map is the latest innovative world map that represents the components (continents, oceans, etc.) of a spherical map in the most accurate relative size possible on a two-dimensional map. This AuthaGraph world map poster is arranged around the Pacific Ocean, and you can see Antarctica close to the South American continent in the lower right of the map.


This world map is produced by the following procedure.

  1. The surface of the globe is divided into 96 rectangular tiles.
  2. These 96 tiles are projected onto an inflated tetrahedron with 24 tiles on each side while maintaining the area ratio of each tile.
  3. The expanded tetrahedron is flattened into a regular tetrahedron, while maintaining the area ratio of each tile.
  4. The expansion of the tetrahedral globe cut open will be a rectangular world map with an aspect ratio of √3:4.

The world's continents and oceans are reproduced on a quadrangular plane, with the world's continents and oceans moving in any direction without stopping. Several rectangles are printed in the poster, which indicate that an AuthaGraph world map centered on any point on the earth can be produced.

    It is a really neat map. I'm a big fan of Buckminster Fuller and his Dymaxion map and this is a great map that follows in his footsteps. I like to see how the nondistorted shapes of the land masses differ from the commonly seen representations. My only complaint is with the finish on the printed map, it is simply ink on paper. I mounted mine in a frame and that made all the difference.
