Keenly aware that the art of fine handwriting demands passionate craftsmanship, Koransha spent two years developing a fountain pen which embodies the Japanese sense and flair for the highest levels of innovation, passion and creativity. The writing implement of choice for the most discerning of individuals, each Arita Fountain Pen exhibits the refined technology of Arita Porcelain heritage with a nib perfectly engineered by Pental's master artisans. With their unique blend of technology and aesthetics, Arita Fountain Pens are recognized as fine writing instruments of excellence. Technical marvels steeped in history, they combine originality in their use of top grade materials with perfection of form that makes writing by hand a genuinely refined experience. When offering an Arita fountain Pen Set as a gift, you are choosing to bestow a symbol of prestige and style that affirms your love of beautiful things while acknowledging a similar aesthetic sense in the receiver.

Exceeding every quality you would expect of a top-class writing instrument, the Arita Fountain Pen is the epitome of fine writing luxury. The most exclusive of handmade fine pens, this fine writing instrument is a fabulous gift for both the pen collector and lover of fine writing.

The Nib

Due to its characteristic strength and elasticity, 21 K gold alloy is used to create the nib. Master artisans craft the precious metal with the utmost care and meticulous attention to detail. As it responds beautifully to the idiosyncratic hand movements of writers, indium alloy is applied to the nib point. Pressing the nib into paper is rendered unnecessary as the weight of the pen ensures an even, smooth flow of ink for a completely effortless, luxurious handwriting experience.

Arita-yaki porcelain

Arita-yaki porcelain has been an important traditional industry in Japan for some 400 years. Originating in the town of Arita on the southern island of Kyushu, Japan, it is one of the most well known styles of Japanese pottery in the world. Techniques were developed and refined to produce many kinds of porcelain ware, the export to Europe of which began early in the 17th century.

Governmental Recognition

In 2008 at the 34th G8 summit held in Hokkaido, Japan, world leaders were each given an Arita Fountain Pen Set as a gift from the Japanese government. The same year, it was also exhibited at the Louvre museum as part of celebrations to mark 150 years of relations between Japan in France.

Designs

Considered since ancient times to bring good luck, the arabesque patterns represent the strong life force of flora. This focused and thoughtful design is composed by hand with tasteful color tones characterized by the application and firing of some thirty ‘transfers’. These highly developed ‘transfer’ techniques, the very best in the world, produce delicate lines and graduation of color more detailed than is possible by drawing directly on the porcelain by hand.
