A piece of textile heritage artwork that is also an elegant wall hanging, the Tapestry Centerpiece is jacquard woven in Kyoto with finely colored silk.

Drawn by Hobun Kikuchi (a star of Kyoto Nihonga around 1900), the original design called 'Hobun-Shiki-Soka' (Four Seasons Flora) was inspired by the Art-Nouveau movement. A sophisticated piece that revives the elegance of the original artwork, the tapestry beautifully depicts flora of each of Japan’s four clearly defined seasons.

*Nihonga, literally ‘Japanese-style paintings’, is a term used to describe paintings that have been made in accordance with traditional Japanese artistic conventions, techniques and materials. While based on traditions over a thousand years old, the term was coined in the Meiji period of Imperial Japan, to distinguish such works from Western-style paintings, or Yōga.
